Daily Crusts

Grandpa told me that eating my crusts would make my hair curly. I'm trying to see if not eating them will make my hair straight. Seventeen years and counting, and so far no dice. I have great hopes that year eighteen will be the winner.

Daily Don-Quixote's-Brain-Would-Explode

(another old set, but posted while thinking about the Copenhagen summit)

To dream the impossible dream
To fight the unbeatable foe

To bear with unbearable sorrow

To run where the brave dare not go

And the world will be better for this...

Daily Little Things

The centre 3 aisles of parking at my office have been designated "Car Pool Only"

And look! Hybrid parking spaces!

Daily 'Mo

This is late, but I'm making up for lost time. Tim participated in Movember (again) this year. He fared a little better than last time 'round.

But words cannot express how happy I was when December 1st arrived.

Daily Nuisance

My day begins like this: I let the cat in. She gives me this look:

For anyone who doesn't speak Cat, a rough translation of that look might be: Make with the food, human.

If, for whatever reason I have something else going on that delays the delivery of kibble into her bowl (like say, making coffee, eating breakfast, packing my bag) well... she escalates the situation (click to embiggen the image for full effect):

Daily Six-Month-Gap

What happened?

Lets see if we can get this train rolling again, shall we?

Daily Adventure

Tonight, I made marshmallows. Yes, I'm THAT amazing.

But before the marshmallows, there was an adventure. Koopa ran out of gas on my way home. I managed to pull onto an offramp away from most of the traffic, then called Tim.

For forty-five minutes I sat next to my disabled car, looking like this:

And NO-ONE stopped to ask if I needed help. Stupid unfriendly Toronto.

But thankfully, my rescuer soon arrived with a can of gas (note how close I was to the gas station - right across the freaking street):

After all that, it was really nice to go home, have a beer, and make marshmallows. Lets look at that amazingness again, shall we?

Love.

Daily Riding Buddy

She doesn't talk much, but she sure keeps up with me on the ride to work.

15 June 2009

Stopping by the Garden on a Sunny Evening

Whose plot this is I think I know...

11 June 2009

Daily Awesome

I love this bike and want to marry it.

09 June 2009

Daily Struggle

Some days, I know exactly how this little guy feels.

04 June 2009

Daily Cherry

This is why I ride my bike home along the lakeshore. Cherry Beach in the
evening.

01 June 2009

Daily Home

The view of my room as I reach the top of my stairs. Really invites a nap, doesn't it?

31 May 2009

Daily Off-The-Wagon

She avoided the catnip for almost a week, and then I found her like this. This is probably the feline definition of "total bender".

Daily Activism

We rode in the Bells on Bloor parade today, along with thousands of other bikers, from High Park to Queens Park, ringing our bike bells and asking for bike lanes along Bloor & Danforth.

30 May 2009

Daily Pedal-Powered Something

After the Ride for Africa on the Toronto Islands, there was a pedal-powered concert. All those bikes (there were about 10) are attached to mini-generators, which are supplying power for all the amps and speakers for the band. It was pretty damn cool, let me tell you. On stage: Mr. Something Something.

Daily Breakfast

Homemade Kickass 'Nola + blueberries + almond milk in an
Empty Bowl = best breakfast ever.

28 May 2009

Daily Chaos

My subway broke a switch at Woodbine station and shut down the whole line
from Broadview to Vic Park. After we all heard an almighty CLUNK, our subway
operator came on the PA system and said, simply: Oops.

Daily Bright Spot

My favourite part of the trip home is the bridge over the Don Valley. I'm
usually standing on the north side of the car, so my view is mainly tracks
or struts. The south view would be prettier, but then I'd be standing on
the side where the doors are opening, and that's just a hassle.

27 May 2009

Notso Daily Tifosi

This was the scene today at Yonge & Eg before the Championship final. They
were singing a song about Wayne Rooney (swoon)

25 May 2009

Daily Lift

Our elevators mirror the button layouts on each side of the doors, so I
regularly hit the 6 button by mistake. The irritation expressed by my
fellow passengers when I do this is inversely proportional to the current
time of day.

22 May 2009

Daily Stoner

Sister can not keep herself away from the catnip. Then she spends the next
couple hours flaked out like this. Ridiculous. Although I have to admit, I'm a little jealous.

20 May 2009

Daily Teacup

It usually just holds water. Like Jason Harley before me, I amaze people
with my apparent coffee consumption, as I bring mug after mug back to my
desk. No one suspects that it might just be water instead.

14 May 2009

Daily Garden

This weed patch is my allotment garden. We have so much work to do.
